2nd Mediterranean Independent Dialogue for the UN Food Systems Summit
MONDAY 21 JUNE 2021
(14.30-18.00 CEST)
"Enabling actions for more Sustainable Food Systems in the Mediterranean" #SFSMED
The 2nd SFS-MED Independent Food Systems Summit Dialogue is convened by the CIHEAM, FAO, UfMS, OPN-SFSP and PRIMA Foundation, to continue advancing a common understanding of the complex environment of Sustainable Food Systems (SFS) in the Mediterranean region.
Building on the findings of the 1st SFS-MED Dialogue held on 27 April, the dialogue will foster inclusive discussions to identify common pathways for sustainable food systems in the Mediterranean, supporting their transformation and ultimately advancing progress on the 2030 Agenda in the region.
Identify entry points and what is needed to enable the actions
The discussion topics will be structured around the key enablers needed to advance sustainability. This Dialogue is an opportunity for a wide variety of stakeholders to further exchange, in the context of the Summit’s Actions Tracks, Levers of Change and Solutions Clusters.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the 2nd Dialogue are:
- Catalysing joint action to improve the sustainability, understanding and resilience of Mediterranean food systems by bridging Sustainable Consumption And Production (SCP), using the Mediterranean diet as a lever of change, among others.
- Engaging a wide network of SFS stakeholders within the broader framework of green, blue and circular economy, where the SFS-MED Platform can play a key role in strengthening regional cooperation at the service of Mediterranean youth and women to accelerate regional implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
The outcomes of this 2nd Dialogue will feed into the Summit preparatory process and into the programme of the 3rd Mediterranean Diet World Conference on SFS in the Mediterranean.
