During its 152nd Meeting, the CIHEAM Governing Board nominated four new members of the CIHEAM Advisory Board for a 4-year mandate. This Committee is composed of personalities from higher education institutions, research institutes, or ministries of the CIHEAM member countries. It gives its views on issues submitted by the Governing Board, accompanies the CIHEAM's CAPMED 2025 working groups, and is involved in the CIHEAM's Thesis Prize and Youth Innovation Award.
Personalities with rich backgrounds and complementary profiles
The newly nominated members are:
- Mrs. BENCHIKH LEHOCINE Maysoun of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Algeria
- Mrs. FATEN Khamassi from INAT in Tunisia
- Mr. ROJAS BRIALES Eduardo of the Universitat Politècnica de València in Spain
- Mrs. SAMMUT Sonya of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food, and Animal Rights of Malta
Leading experts in plant genetics, rural economics and development, forestry, and organic and sustainable food systems, these personalities with rich academic and professional backgrounds started their mandate on 1 January 2023.
The Governing Board, apart from welcoming the renewal which takes into account the complementarity of profiles and gender balance, thanked the outgoing members, namely Ms. Lamiae GHAOUTI, Mr. Giulio MALORGIO, Mr. Jacques WERY, and Mr. Hichem BEN SALEM, for the accomplishment of their missions and for their essential contributions to the recent strategic initiatives of CIHEAM.
