A new start for the scientific journal NewMedit
We would like to inform you that, as of January 2025, the management and ownership of the scientific journal NEW MEDIT, dedicated to economic, agricultural, and environmental issues in the Mediterranean, have been transferred to the General Secretariat of the Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM) in Paris.

This decision is in line with the CIHEAM 2030 Strategic Plan, which stresses the need to enhance the visibility and impact of Mediterranean scientific output in a changing global landscape. For decades, Mediterranean researchers have been played a fundamental role in analysing the economic and social transformations in agriculture, rural societies, and agri-food networks in the region.
However, with growing global competition in scientific publishing and the emergence of new editorial platforms, there is a risk that research specific to the Mediterranean will be overlooked. In this era of digital transformation, it is vital to better organise and promote these contributions in order to enhance existing expertise and provide policymakers, researchers, and practitioners with leading strategic analyses for a sustainable, resilient, and inclusive food system transition.
NEW MEDIT plays a key role in achieving this objective. Indexed in Scopus and Web of Science (WOS), the journal is a reference platform for the study of economic and policy dynamics in the Mediterranean. It addresses major agricultural and agri-food development issues that are fully in line with the CIHEAM Strategic Agenda, including natural resource and energy management, the promotion of the Mediterranean diet and access to food, the development of rural and coastal areas, and adaptation to climate change.
In this context, CIHEAM Member States and other Mediterranean countries will receive special attention, particularly on emerging issues. This will be achieved through close collaboration with national experts and young researchers to provide tangible solutions to regional challenges.
