Mrs. Frida Krifca, President of the CIHEAM Governing Board since April 1st, 2023, and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Albania visited the CIHEAM General Secretariat for a working meeting with the Secretary-General, Mr. Teodoro Miano and his team.
Accompanied by Mrs. Ami Çarçani, Director for Implementation of Priorities and Statistics at the Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs. Frida Krifca visited the CIHEAM General Secretariat for a working meeting with the Secretary-General, Mr. Teodoro Miano, and his team.
Discussions focused in particular on the strategic priorities of the CIHEAM in terms of teaching, research, and cooperation, on the governance and operating methods of the organization. After reviewing a few flagship initiatives and discussing ongoing activities at the international level, the President and the Secretary-General talked about the main course of action to be developed for the coming years: fostering the action of corporate working groups, increasing and strengthening the relationships with other international organizations, stimulating the participation of observing entities in our actions, establishing corporate educational plans, interacting locally and internationally with private bodies and stakeholders and becoming more aware of real needs and requests coming from our communities.
"I am very happy to be here today and to work with all of you who come from different countries to give Mediterranean agriculture - which is very dear to me - a common vision and new energy. I look forward to contributing to the promotion of strong regional cooperation in the service of more sustainable and inclusive food and agricultural systems", said Mrs. Krifca addressing the staff of the General Secretariat.
Albania has been a member of CIHEAM since 1992 and currently around twenty CIHEAM projects are underway in the country. They aim at strengthening food and nutritional security, fostering agroecological and biodiversity-friendly practices, contributing to the sustainable development of rural and coastal areas in the context of climate change, and reducing agricultural losses and waste along food chains.
