The SFS-MED Platform is organizing on September 12th the sixth technical webinar of a series about the levers for food systems transformation, focusing on “Green Growth: Strategies and Actions to Shift towards Sustainable Food Systems in the Mediterranean Region”.
If you want to hear about effective strategies, incentives, and technological solutions for greening agrifood systems in the Mediterranean, register here. In this interactive webinar, policymakers, researchers, and practitioners will discuss collaborative approaches to address challenges and gaps in transferring knowledge and research to practical applications to improve the sustainability of agrifood systems. The concept note and agenda are available in English and French (live interpretation will be available in both languages).
Addressing sustainability challenges in the Mediterranean agrifood systems is vital for long-term food security, environmental protection, and socio-economic development. With water scarcity, land degradation, and climate impacts affecting food production, a shift towards sustainable practices is urgent. Transitioning to sustainable agrifood systems requires a comprehensive approach, including shifting towards sustainable agriculture, post-harvest management, food processing, and waste management.
The 6th webinar led by the SFS-Med Platform is expected to raise awareness and promote dialogue on the challenges and opportunities in greening agrifood systems in the Mediterranean region. The webinar will also provide participants with practical examples of sustainable food production and consumption practices, and discuss the role of innovative technologies, forward-thinking policies and targeted finance in advancing green growth in the region. The webinar will also facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences among participants and foster opportunities for collaboration and partnerships among the SFS-MED platform members and other stakeholders.
