On 25 November 2022, the Secretary General of the CIHEAM, Mr. Plácido Plaza, welcomed Ambassador Mr. Luca Sabbatucci, the Permanent Representative of Italy to International Organisations based in Paris, at the CIHEAM General Secretariat.

Italy is one of the founding countries of the CIHEAM, and hosts one of its Institutes in Bari.

During the meeting, the Secretary-General talked about the current initiatives of the CIHEAM as well as the priority areas of action for agricultural cooperation, scientific research, and Mediterranean dialogue.

The Secretary-General and the Italian Ambassador underlined the enduring cooperation between Italy and the CIHEAM and the mutual willingness to keep working together to foster development and political dialogue in the Mediterranean.
