Cosimo Lacirignola has worked on issues of Mediterranean agriculture, food security and rural development for over 30 years. He is an agricultural economist and graduate of the University of Bologna. After having been an official of the European Commission, he worked as an administrator at the CIHEAM Headquarters from 1983 to 1987. He took up the post of Director of the CIHEAM-Bari in 1987. Cosimo Lacirignola has also been the advisor of the Ministers of Agriculture of three different Italian governments on matters related to international relations.
